Hong Kong – BNP Paribas Securities (Asia), the Asian equity brokerage arm of BNP Paribas, is pleased to announce its plans to combine its China and Hong Kong equities research capabilities in light of the anticipated convergence of the two markets.
Erwin Sanft, previously Head of China Equities Research, has been appointed Head of China and Hong Kong Equities Research with immediate effect. He will be leading a top-ranked research team of 20 analysts in Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong.
Meanwhile, Mohan Singh, currently Head of Hong Kong Equity Research, has been appointed India Product Coordinator. He will play a central role in building the BNP Paribas equity platform in India, a priority growth market in light of the exponential growth of its securities industry in recent years. At the same time, Mohan will also assume greater regional responsibilities for the Consumer Sector coverage as Head of Regional Consumer Equity Research.
Erwin has been heading up the BNP Paribas China Equities Research team since he joined in 2004. Erwin managed CLSA’s China research team between 1998 and 2004 and has been consistently ranked among the top China analysts in the market over the past ten years.
Mohan first joined BNP Paribas in 1994 through the Peregrine Group’s Sydney office and subsequently moved to the Bank’s Hong Kong office in 2000. Over the years he has accumulated a number of accolades in the Consumer Equities Research and Hong Kong Research categories. In the Asiamoney 2005 and 2006 surveys, he was ranked the 7th and 8th Best Hong Kong analyst respectively. In the 2006 Institutional Investor All Asia survey, Mohan and his team were Runners Up in the Regional Consumer Research category.
Both Erwin and Mohan will report to Jonathan Harris, Regional Head of Company Research, BNP Paribas Securities (Asia).
