BNP Paribas bolsters its Equity Cash Platform in Asia Pacific with New Strategic Appointments

BNP Paribas today announced a number of key strategic appointments to its Research, Sales, Sales Trading, Electronic Trading, and Transactional Coverage Group teams in Asia Pacific, significantly strengthening its Equity Cash platform in the region.

Lee Cook, Head of Cash Equity Asia Pacific at BNP Paribas said: “These new appointments complete the successful transformation of our cash equity business and position us to much better serve the needs of our clients regionally and globally. Both our Advisory and Execution capabilities are significantly enhanced by these recent additions which will help us further our aims and ambitions in 2015.”

Pierre Rousseau, Head of Global Equities and Commodity Derivatives, Asia Pacific, at BNP Paribas said: “These additional hires serve to reinforce our commitment to our clients in being an important and relevant partner for Advisory and Execution services. With our plans to increase the breadth of our Advisory offering in midcap companies, notably in Hong Kong, China and Japan, our profile will continue to grow; likewise with our plans for our mass market business and developing new and innovative products from a sustainability perspective. Research

Gabriel Chan, Head of Equity Cash APAC Research, has recently made the following appointments to boost the equity research platform which currently covers 580 listed companies in core industry sectors:

Manishi Raychaudhuri, BNP Paribas’ Asian Equity Strategist, has relocated to Hong Kong from Mumbai.

Ghee Peh has joined from UBS as a Senior Regional Commodities Equity Research Analyst.

Victoria Li has joined from Barclays as a China Autos and Industrial Equity Research Analyst.

Emily Lee has joined from Standard Chartered as a Greater China Consumer Equity Research Analyst.

Coria Chow has joined from UBS in mid-Aug as a Greater China Commodity Equity Research Analyst.

Kazue Yanagisawa has joined from Japaninvest as Japan Consumer and Small-mid Cap Equity Research Analyst.

Wei-Shi Wu has joined from Deutsche Bank as an ASEAN Telecom Equity Research Analyst.

Shengyong Goh has joined from Sands China as a Regional Gaming Equity Research Analyst.

 

BNP Paribas’ Equity Cash APAC Research team provides insightful research focusing on six broad industry groups across Asia Pacific – Commodities (led by Daisy Zhang), Consumer (led by Charlie Chen); Energy (led by Yongliang Por); Financials & Property (led by Wee Liat Lee); Industrials (led by Christopher Cintavey) and Technology Media Telecom (led by Peter Yu).

 

Sales

Ken Chen, Deputy Head of Equity Cash APAC, has recently made the following appointments to enhance the advisory alignment between Research and Sales:

Sahil Asija has joined the hedge fund sales team from Macquarie Bank, building stronger ties with this key client segment.

Lawrence Pang has joined from Keppel as an Asian Equity Sales based in Singapore.

Tom Chetwood, has joined as an Asia and Japan Senior Equity Sales from Macquarie, based in London.

Jo Wang, has joined as an Asian Equity Sales from Bank of China International, based in London.

 

Sales Trading

Douglas Butcher, Head of Equity Cash APAC Sales Trading, who has been instrumental in developing BNP Paribas’ sales trading capabilities in Japan, has recently relocated to Hong Kong. Douglas is solidifying a North Asia hub across 8 countries and has recently made the following appointments:

Christopher Jung has joined as a Managing Director from CICC, with nearly 20 years of experience in the region and a portfolio of strong client relationships.

Brian Goldberg has joined as a Director from Société Générale and will focus on HF sales trading coverage.

Adrian Tan has joined as a Director from Morgan Stanley.

Cartlina Lee has joined as a Director from RBS Korea.

Mick Wong has joined as a Director from Nomura.

 

Electronic Trading

Carrie Cheung, Head of Electronic Trading, APAC, who is spearheading the development of the Algo, DMA, and Program Trading platform, has recently made the following appointment:

Ken Leung has joined as a Director from J.P. Morgan to lead the product development of our electronic trading platform.

 

Transactional Coverage Group (TCG)

Natalie Shaw, Head of TCG, continues to develop BNP Paribas’ mid-market effort and has made the following appointments:

Polly Leung, has joined as Director from ICBC and will spearhead the team’s efforts with Hong Kong and China based asset managers.

Devin Perera hasjoined as Associate Director from Morgan Stanley, Sydney, to focus on long only regional asset managers, and partner with Prime Services on smaller hedge fund opportunities.
