With the increasing importance of China in the global economy, its growing integration in the international markets and its newly focused outbound strategy, the need for quality in-depth research on China going global has never been higher.
To better help Chinese enterprises grow their presence internationally, BNP Paribas has partnered with Tsinghua University School of Economics & Management (Tsinghua SEM) to launch the Center for Globalization of Chinese Enterprises (CGCE), led by Professor Jia Ning under the Chairmanship of Dean Qian Yingyi from Tsinghua SEM.
This strong and long term partnership between BNP Paribas and the prestigious academy in Greater China aims to conduct high-quality research in the area of China going global, as well as providing a platform to forge business partnerships between Chinese and foreign enterprises.
The Center will also promote corporate social responsibility, including best corporate governance practices and sustainable development, and act as a ‘think tank’ on Chinese globalization-related government policies. The Center aims to become a thought leader on globalization, with an emphasis on generating innovative globalization strategies and practices, and promoting the globalization of Chinese enterprises and the collaboration with global partners through research, education and service to the community.
The launch ceremony on 10 July 2015 held in Tsinghua University – Beijing, was well attended by more than 200 guests coming from both academic and business backgrounds. The audience had the opportunity to listen to prestigious keynote speakers and panellists from business sector, government bodies and academics, of which Mr Gao Xi Qing, Ex President and Chief Investment Officer of CIC, Mr William de Vijlder, Group Chief Economist of BNP Paribas, Mr Liu Guangzhong, Deputy Director from MoF, Mr Wang Jianxi, Ex EVP and Chief Risk Officer of CIC, M. Lukas Loh, CEO of CapitaLand China and Mr Yuan Xiaolin, President of Volvo China as well as top academics like Professor Yang Baiyin and Professor Chen Taotao.

Professor Xie Weihe, Vice President of Tsinghua University reviewed the globalization strategy of Tsinghua University in his speech and indicated that Tsinghua SEM is the most internationalized school in Tsinghua and is best positioned for the establishment of the CGCE. Professor Xie also expressed his gratitude towards BNP Paribas for its support to the CGCE and wished the CGCE a great success.
Dean Qian Yingyi believed that the launch of CGCE is another testimony of the globalization progress for SEM. He expected the Center to offer more communications opportunities and to become the opinion leader for enterprises on globalization.
