2024 APAC Long Internship – Investment Banking – M&A – Hong Kong

Our 6-month internship programme will provide you with training and dedicated support as you develop an in-depth knowledge of specific areas of the banking sector. During your time with us you will shadow our teams of industry leading specialists which will give you close exposure to the business. Most importantly you will gain an understanding of your own skills and the future direction you wish to take.

For:    Third or penultimate year undergraduates in any disciplines from a recognized university
Duration:    6 months
Start date:    January – June 2024

Who can apply?

To be considered for the placement, you will:

  • Apply as a third or penultimate year undergraduate in any discipline; 
  • On track for a GPA of 3.3 out of 4.0 or above (or equivalent) in any discipline; 
  • Be available to work as full time from January to June 2024; 
  • Have to be fluent in spoken and written English; and 

What you will do?
Provide support in origination and execution of M&A deals across Asia:

1. Provide support in origination and assessment of M&A opportunities

  • Prepare pitch books or other presentation materials for use in client meetings
  • Perform research of targeted industries/ companies
  • Analyse financial information/ data and perform valuation analysis
  • Maintain various databases, credentials, model templates

2. Provide support in M&A deal execution 

  • Participate in all stages of transaction executions
  • Coordinate and maintain communications with clients and/or other professional parties
  • Assist in document preparation, e.g. teasers, information memorandum, management presentations, board presentations
  • Build financial models/ valuation analysis; 
  • Assist in due diligence and relevant analysis
  • Support in various relevant internal procedures (e.g. compliance checks, mandate committee approvals, filings)

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in accounting and finance related disciplines 
  • Solid quantitative skills and accounting and finance knowledge 
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills 
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills in English and Mandarin 
  • Meticulous attention to detail 
  • Ability to multi-task, manage change and complexity with confidence under time pressure 
  • Good team player with strong interpersonal skills 
  • Highly motivated and results-driven 
  • A genuine interest in Corporate Finance/ M&A and willingness to learn 
  • Proficiency with software and tools commonly used in investment banking 
  • Prior internship within investment banking industry is an advantage
