Position Purpose
Data Quality Analyst is a new role created for proactive data quality monitoring and issue management (data requests / data quality issues coming from the users across all 12 APAC territories). With a strong data oriented and risk control mind-set, these individuals will
- Play a critical role in increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of CIB Operations by ensuring the data used by the organization is accurate, reliable, consistent, and timely
- Act as the owner to analyze the data quality of Interest rates and FX rates, design the data quality controls, provide regular data quality reporting to relevant stakeholders
- Be able to co-ordinate data quality remediation and support the design of recommendations with various stakeholders/SMEs
The key interactions are with the Rates Referential Officer who oversees coordinating investigation and remediation of data related issues for Interest rates and FX rates; representatives from all CIB business lines and support functions, and data quality governance forum regarding the Interest rates and FX rates problems derived from the daily transactions.
Responsibilities
Data Quality Monitoring:
- Define data quality metrics and KPIs that are relevant to the organization’s needs and goals
- Collaborate with data owners and stakeholders to design and implement data quality controls
- Set up data quality monitoring tools (e.g., reports, dashboards, workflow, etc.) as necessary for the data quality monitoring process
- Perform continuous monitoring of KPIs and data quality controls results to track the data quality overtime
- Provide regular data quality reporting (e.g., KPIs, data quality trends and remediation progress, etc.) to relevant data users and management
- Support the preparation of data quality forums, and escalate data quality issues to data governance forums as appropriate
Data Quality Issues Resolution:
- Collaborate with data owners and stakeholders to identify data quality issues and prioritize them based on the severity and impact
- Conduct root cause analysis to determine underlying cause of data quality issues and recommend the remediation strategies
- Coordinate with various stakeholders/SMEs to design the remediation plans and implement the plans to remediate data quality issues in a timely and efficient manner
- Lead the user acceptance testing as required and validate the data quality issues have been remediated effectively
- Maintain documentation of data quality issues and remediation plans, including issue logs, pain points, business requirements, action items and progress reports
Continuous Support and Improvement:
- Support the implementation of Referential Framework and the documentation of data management artefacts (e.g., data lineage)
- Provide training and education to data users to promote understanding of data quality issues and best practices
- Identify and propose long term improvement opportunities to data quality and operational effectiveness
Competencies (Technical and Behavioral)
We are looking for a Data Quality Analyst with end-to-end data quality monitoring and remediation experiences and can provide ongoing monitoring and investigation of data quality issues in the financial services environment:
- 2+ years of experience of data quality control design and implementation, data quality monitoring and analysis, and data quality remediation
- Good technical understanding of Global Banking products and especially Interest rates and FX rates usage within Corporate Banking (Cash Management, Trade, Credit, Finance, etc.)
- Understanding of data governance principles and practices, including data policies, standards, and procedures
Understanding of data modelling and database design, as well as proficiency in relevant data quality tools and technologies - Ability to analyze complex data sets, identify patterns and draw insights to support data quality improvements
- Comfortable operating with a strong level of autonomy and / or under pressure
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to think outside the box and to deal with novelty
- Ability to interact in a non-hierarchical framework with a variety of stakeholders including SMEs from Operations, IT, Business, and senior management
- Strong written / verbal communication and reporting skills, with ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Strong team working and interpersonal skills
- Organized and delivery-focused, with attention to detail
- Proactive, proposing or taking own initiatives to prevent risks / issues
- Solid work ethic and high level of motivation
Specific Qualifications Required
- University Degree
- Proficiency in Microsoft office (MS Word, Excel & Power point), mastering a data analytics tool (Power BI, SQL, Qlik Sense, Alteryx) a plus
- Fluent in spoken and written English, Mandarin and / or French a plus
