BNP Paribas has been supporting research on dengue virus at the HKU-Pasteur Research Pole (HKU-PRP) since 2010.

The donation been funding HKU-PRP‘s study of dengue virus, which aims to achieve a complete understanding of the molecular interactions between the virus and the host cells. Particular emphasis will be placed on the mechanisms regulating assembly, budding, trafficking and egress of dengue virus, as well as the immune response of the host to the virus.

This partnership in Hong Kong is part of BNP Paribas’s global sponsorship programme with Institut Pasteur – a non-profit private foundation which contributes to the prevention and treatment of infectious diseases. It was established in 2008 and the total global donation has reached nearly 2.3 million Euros as of 2014.

Climate change is undoubtedly one of the biggest challenges facing humanity. Understanding the factors and predicting the consequences for our environment and populations are key challenges. That is why the BNP Paribas Foundation supports research on climate change since 2010 through its “Climate Initiative” programme.
